The AILF Manifesto
We believe stories are not just written—they are lived, carried across distances, whispered through generations, and shared across languages.
At the Ahmedabad International Literature Festival, we gather voices from near and far—celebrated names and emerging storytellers, poets of the soil and thinkers of the world—so that every word, whether known or waiting to be discovered, finds its place and purpose.
We believe literature belongs to everyone.
To every language, every region, every culture.
To the unheard as much as the celebrated.
Here, conversations flow beyond boundaries—where ideas meet, perspectives expand, and differences dissolve into dialogue. We invite writers, artists, filmmakers, and dreamers from across India and around the world to come together, not just to speak, but to listen, to learn, and to connect.
We strive to ignite curiosity in young minds, to nurture creativity, and to remind each of us that stories have the power to shape who we are—and who we can become.
Rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Gujarat, yet open to the world, AILF is a meeting ground of tradition and imagination, of memory and possibility.
And above all, we believe in joy—
Not as something to be chased, but as something to be felt in a poem, discovered in a story, and shared in a moment of understanding.
Because when words come alive,
they don’t just inform—
they connect, they heal,
and they echo long after the festival ends.
