Dr. Indira Nityanandam
Dr. Indira Nityanandam is a highly respected academician with over five decades of teaching experience. She is the former Principal of Smt. S.R. Mehta Arts College, Ahmedabad, and has held key academic and administrative roles including Ex-Director at Bharatiya Bhasha Sanskriti Sansthan, Gujarat Vidyapith, and visiting faculty positions at prestigious institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, EDI Gandhinagar, and SAP Centre, Gujarat University. She has guided numerous M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars and contributed significantly to academia through national and international conference papers, orientation/refresher courses, and faculty development programmes. She has served on advisory panels including the Gujarat Judicial Academy, State Textbook Board, and multiple boards of studies across institutions such as CN Angrezi Kendra and St. Xavier’s Autonomous College. An award-winning author, Dr. Indira has published eight books and edited several others. Her notable works include: Contemporary Cheerharan: Women Fighting Indignity and Injustice Meandering On (short story collection) Altitudinis (a collaborative novel) Co-editor of Behind the Clouds: Writing from the Margins A forthcoming book on Amitav Ghosh A passionate advocate for translation studies, she has translated Tamil Dalit literature into Gujarati, including poetry, short stories, and novels, supported by the Sahitya Akademi. One of her most fulfilling projects has been translating Narayan Desai’s Gandhi Katha.
