Omkar Pethkar

I am a 30 years old debuting filmmaker, writer and theatre practitioner. I did my graduation in political science from the Maharaja Sayajirao University. I always had an inclination towards storytelling and audio visual arts from early student years. Therefore I opted for a diploma in dramatics and later did masters’ in journalism and mass communication from the same university which opened new avenues for me. I was born in Vadodara, Gujarat and I am raised in a modest middle class family. My father is a retired state government employee and my mother is a homemaker.  I have a sister who is married and settled in the USA. While growing up I was sent to RSS Shakha that played a vital role in shaping my world view and my approach towards society. Later, joining the drama school and doing masters in Communication Studies I learned the art and craft of storytelling. My first college project was a short film called "Bigha" that was specially screened in Nirma institute (Ahmedabad). I have always believed that negotiations and dialogue can solve the problems and Theatre and Films are a medium to address the issues, initatie a dialogue and inspire the people to deal with the problems.
