1961 born, Kirit Doodhat, a retired bureaucrat and  Post Graduate in English Literature, is  a leading voice in contemporary fiction and post-modern literary movement in Gujarati litearture. He has served Gujarat as an Additional Collector from 2002 to 2013.After achieving the zenith of his career, he took voluntary retirement from the coveted position and service to pursue his hobbies and passion with more time and vigor.

Kirit Doodhat has been associated with premier literary organizations, like Gujarati Sahitya Parishad (Ahmadabad), Gujarat Sahitya Academi, Hindi Sahitya akademi, Sanskrit Sahitya Akademi, Sindhi Sahitya akademi, Kutchi Sahitya Akademi and Urdu Sahitya Akademi (Gandhinagar, as Mahamatra/Registrar, till 2012), Sahacharya (Mumbai) etc.

His short stories and critical essays have been published  in all leading journals in Gujarati, including 'Parab', 'Shabdshrushti', 'Gadyaparva' 'Sahacharya', 'Navaneet Samarpan', Also published in Sahitya Akademi's journals in Hindi and English. His work has been translated into English, Hindi, Kannada and Marathi.
