Ketan Trivedi is a Senior Journalist working with leading Gujarati publication Chitralekha at its Ahmedabad bureau and currently heading its digital platform chitralekha.com as Editor-Digital. He is also in charge of publication’s New Delhi National political bureau. Having overall experience of nearly 20 years in journalism, he has extensively covered political and current affairs, social and environmental issues.
He has covered all state assembly as well as parliamentary elections from Gujarat after 1998 and interviewed many political heavy weights including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, L. K. Advani, Vijay Rupani, Shankersinh Waghela, Bharat Solanki while travelling with them during campaign. He has travelled to the length and breadth of the Gujarat state and produced many important stories covering various issues ranging from flood, cyclone, earthquake, communal riots to the very touchy stories of human life. Having an excellent writing flair and command over the language, many of his stories have been proved to be catalyst of change.
His writings are blend of local and global approaches. As a National bureau in charge, he has interviewed many prominent personalities including Shashi Tharoor, Sam Pitroda, Sunita Narain, Amartya Sen, Rohini Nilekani, Jairam Ramesh and Taslima Nasrin and brings them to Gujarati audience. Whether it is Presidential election, India-Pakistan Rail Service, Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption, revival of Nalanda University, 2014 election campaign from Varanasi or any other issue of national importance, he has successfully covered it from ground zero.
He has won prestigious national and international awards including; WASH Media Award from Water and Sanitation Collaborative Council, Geneva & Stockholm International Water Institute during World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden in 2012 and The Statesman Award for Rural Reporting in Kolkata in 2013. He has also been awarded prestigious media fellowship on JNNURM from Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi.
He has visited United States under prestigious International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) to study on ‘Media’s Ability to Identify and Understand Reliable Information’ in 2019.
Showing his strong interest and inclination on academic front, he has done field research work & contributed in script writing for American Television show ‘Find Your Roots’; September-October 2017. His research paper titled ‘Princely State Forces of Gujarat in World War-I’ was presented (in absentia) at International conference on ‘India and The Great War’ held at University of Fraser Valley, Abbotsford Campus, Canada during 22-24 October, 2015. He also teaches as a visiting faculty at National Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication, Ahmedabad and other journalism institutes.
He is empanelled as a political analyst on many regional and national channels; including TV-9 Gujarati, DD-Girnar, DD-National and Zee-Hindi.
Graduated in Economics & Political Science, he had earlier worked with leading Gujarati daily Gujarat Samachar at Vadodara and Gujarati weekly Abhiyaan at Ahmedabad.
