Jay Makwana

Orator and PhD Research Scholar
Jay Makwana is a Baroda-based bilingual orator (Gujarati and Hindi).
 
He is the founder of ‘Mahatma Gandhi Youth Organisation’. M.G.Y.O. (Mahatma Gandhi Youth Organization) is a team that works to promote art, knowledge and culture. The organisation aims to portray our Indian traditions, customs and festivals with a modern touch, so that they are accepted whole heartedly by the youngsters/youth. Under M.G.Y.O., with a view to bridge the generation gap, some unique events such as ‘ROBO RATH YATRA’ – where Lord Jagannath’s idol is carried on a ROBOT, ’LOVE FEST’ – a literary event based on Krishna on the auspicious day of Janmashtami – were successfully organised.
 
Jay is also one of the founding members of the first ever Literary Festivals of Vadodara – Sayaji Literature Festival. He was also associated with Vadodara National Book Fair (VNBF) organised in 2016.In the Ahmedabad International Literature Festival (AILF), he had given lectures and presented his views on various topics such as : ‘AKHA NU AMDAVAD’, 'Tribal Ramayana', 'Kalidas nu Ritusamhara' , Etc.
 
Jay has conducted 21 heritage walks in the Vadodara city, covering historically important heritage monuments of Vadodara and 12 heritage walks of MSU.
 
He has a diploma in Architecture, B.A. and M.A in Gujarati Literature(with Gold Medal) and is currently a Research Scholar at Gujarati Department of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. He has also cleared NET along with JRF (June 2019) in Gujarati in the very first attempt.
 
He was awarded Three Gold medals in Gujarati Literature(M.A). He has registered himself for PhD on the topic - ‘A critical study of selected Ecocentric Novels’ in Gujarati Department, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara.
