Vinod Sahay

Vinod Sahay is the Chief Executive Officer of Mahindra Truck and Bus &Construction Equipment Divisions. He is responsible for short, medium & long term strategy, focusing on turning around the business and profitably growing the business, both on the volumes & market-share front.

Over the past two decades, Vinod has spearheaded various functions and been in overall business leadership positions of Commercial Vehicles, Two Wheelers & Passenger Vehicles categories of Automotive business.

Vinod had joined Mahindra &Mahindra Ltd as Chief Operating Officer, Mahindra Two Wheelers in July 2015. In May 2016, he was elevated as the Chief Executive Officer for the business, providing leadership to three companies in the sector, including providing oversight to Peugeot Scooters, France and explore new vistas and avenues for future growth of Mahindra’s Two Wheeler business. Vinod also served on the board of Peugeot Scooters, France.

During his tenure Mahindra Two Wheelers devised and embarked on a new strategy of focusing on premium segment of two wheelers and accordingly undertook a very successful business restructuring to transit from a strategy, cost structure and processes of a mass market player to that of a premium segment player. As a board member, he also led the development and implementation of turnaround strategy for Peugeot scooters.

Prior to joining M&M, Vinod has been associated with Tata Motors, heading various lines of businesses, Strategy, Business management, Sales & Marketing, Product management and Channel management in leadership roles. In the early years there, he steered roles like Product manager - Cars, Strategy PMO, led I&LCVs business turnaround and was Regional Manager of East & North regions for Commercial Vehicles BU.His last assignment there was, Business Head for the Medium &Heavy Trucks. During this eventful stint, he also led several strategic initiatives in Tata Motors like Data Analytics Project, Scenario Planning, Key Account Management and Loyalty Programs, etc.

In terms of educational background, Vinod is a Fulbright CII Fellowship Scholar from Institute of International Education – New York/ Carnegie Mellon University Petersburg – USA; anMBA (International Business with Marketing) from SYMBIOSIS – Pune and B. Sc. – Physics (Honors) from Delhi University.

On personal front, Vinod is married to Swatika and is blessed with two children. His hobbies include listening to soft music and ghazals.
